Corporate ProgramsPrivate SessionsThriving Under Stress: Stress Reduction Thriving Through the Stress of Success and Peak Performance Does stress have to be the cost of success? High achievers and peak performers must be masters of optimally processing the pressures that accompany great achievement. While these individuals often use stress as a creative impetus, it can simultaneously accumulate unconsciously in the body-mind complex, causing a broad range of chronic health disorders while adversely impacting present mental, emotional and physical balance and performance. By learning certain techniques that reverse the normally unconscious “stress response,” peak performers can reach even greater levels of creativity and achievement without compromising their health and wellness. Given the growing pressures in the modern workplace, learning a new response is not only desirable it is imperative. In fact a 1987 study estimated that we have over a thousand times more individual stressors each day than our ancestors had merely one hundred years ago. The alarming message from this study is that the human body processes 90% of these stressors unconsciously. While this automatic processing was quite useful in earlier times, the “fight, flight or freeze response” to modern pressures has an insidious effect on our health. This is because most modern stress inducers – burdensome schedules, excessive work hours, financial and family commitments, climbing…and falling from the corporate ladder – are not conducive to fighting, fleeing or freezing as a means of dealing with them. Unfortunately, the body-mind complex does in deed respond in just this way, whether we wish it too or not, resulting in a long list of disorders that will most likely result. A ccording to the American Institute for Preventative Medicine, stress is at the root of nearly two-thirds of all office visits and plays a major role in heart disease and cancer. By the time you realize you need help reducing stress, you’ve probably already suffered damage from this insidious modern blight. You are not to blame, however, because you haven’t been taught how to reverse the unconscious stress response. The mechanism by which you have unconsciously turned external challenges into body damage, distress and anxiety is the same mechanism we shall use, in reverse, to consciously recreate your ideal health, wellness or desired goals. Once you do this – once you learn to thrive instead of stress in response to change or challenge – you begin reducing or entirely eliminating the damage of prior stresses:
DESCRIPTION OF WEEKLY SESSIONS: The Thriving Mind. Optimally using daily pressures to thrive instead of stress requires a dramatic shift in perspective. Using some latest findings in neuroscience, this session begins the process of altering how we internalize our response to the external circumstances that give rise to unhealthy stress-responses. We’ll see through the “trick of mind” that stress plays on us and begin the powerful process of reversing this “trick” to our benefit. Power Breathwork. An in depth exploration of proper breathing, the dysfunction of which is the most common culprit in unhealthy stress accumulation. We’ll also explore powerfully effective Yogic breathing practices that can produce instant stress reduction and improvement of energy levels, mental clarity and emotional balance. Body Awareness. Stress accumulates in various parts of the body due to “unconsciousness” or unawareness in that part of the body. In other words, one has forgotten that he is unconsciously contracting certain muscles in response to external circumstances or situations. These become deeply engrained patterns that can be reversed through the techniques taught in this session. Inner Pivoting and the S.N.A.P. Method of Instant Stress Reduction. This powerful technique combines Breathwork and Body Awareness with the latest understanding of how our emotions and physical body work together. It is the application of NLP ( Neuro- Linguistic Programming popularized by Tony Robbins) toward the goal of instant stress reduction and achieving optimal physical, mental and emotional states for peak performance. |
